The state of the global economy, solidarity with Ukraine, and job creation in developing countries were key topics during the World Bank annual meetings that took place in Washington, D.C. in the week of 13-17 October. Daði Már Kristófersson, Minister of Finance and the Economy, headed the Icelandic delegation, which included officials from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs as well as the Ministry of Finance and the Economy.

“The role of the World Bank in confronting global challenges such as extreme poverty and inequality, fragility and conflict, and climate change, is greater than ever. In the context of Ukraine, the World Bank plays a pivotal role for reconstruction and is a key partner for Iceland’s support. Along with comprehensive recovery of critical infrastructure and provision of basic services, the World Bank’s support has greatly aided the drive for reforms in Ukraine in line with the European Union accession process,” said Daði Már.
