Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs Formally Opens the Icelandic Embassy in Spain

Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Fernando Sampedro, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, officially open the Icelandic Embassy in Madrid

Ms Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs, formally opened the new Embassy of Iceland in Madrid today. Preparations for its establishment have been ongoing since Alþingi, Iceland's Parliament, decided that an Embassy in Spain should be opened in 2025.

A special seminar was held at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning with the participation of José Manuel Albares Bueno, Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Development Cooperation. In the afternoon, a panel discussion on strengthening trade relations between Iceland and Spain took place, and, on the occasion of the opening of the Embassy, a special trade delegation organised by Business Iceland accompanied Foreign Minister Gunnarsdóttir to Spain.
