Statement by Iceland (no 41 of 78)

 

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Mongolia and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

  1. Strengthen enforcement of the Law on Combating Domestic Violence, including through training, to effectively prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence.
  2. Provide comprehensive access to quality sexual and reproductive health services across the country.
  3. Strengthen comprehensive sexual education in and out of school settings.
  4. Develop, enact, and enforce comprehensive legislation that criminalizes all forms of discrimination against persons of diverse SOGIESC.
  5. Ensure thorough investigations of incidents of hate-motivated violence against persons of diverse SOGIESC, including through systematic data-collection.
  6. Ensure legal recognition of same-sex couples.
  7. Ban conversion therapy.
